silverlight for video publishing

We are supporting a bunch of TV screens which displays a whole lot of campaigns. Those campaigns can be pictures, video clips, webpages and any other multi-midea files. These resources are streamed from pcs which runs software called Campaign Manager and connected with TV screens.

Recently business requires us to display some video,  however, the effect of Campaign Manager playing video directly is not satisfactory, so they want to try alternative method -  use Microsoft own product- Silverlight to play videos.

We have tested it on our Test PC today and it looks good.

Silverlight demo can be found here: http://www.silverlight.net/fox/

AppSvc32.exe consume cpu resource, hard drive spinning

After you install Norton Internet Security 2007, you will have AppSvc32.exe running in task manager, it is an unkillable process. Normally if your PC is left idle overnight, you will find the CPU usage fluctuating from 50% to 100% quite quickly and erratically.

Solution to this issue:  Open up the Norton Protection Center, click on the tab that says, “Norton Antivirus” and click on the section at the bottom that is labeled ” Settings”. Then click on the link that says, “Automatic LiveUpdate”,  select configure and UNCHECK THE BOX THAT SAYS, “Run Quick Scan whenever protection updates have been received.”
